A Daily or Regular Call
Many people find a regular friendly voice and kind chat gives connection and increases personal happiness. Kind Caller maintains the practice of human connection on a daily or regular basis and throughout the year. Individuals subscribe to receive between 120 - 200 call minutes each month for a daily or regular kind call at times that are convenient to them either by booking online or directly with a Kind Caller.
Research shows that a daily or regular chat by phone supports wellbeing. Kind Caller participated in supporting individuals during the pandemic resulting in over 5000 kind calls. During lockdown many people found isolation to be challenging and often just wanted to chat. In many cases, some wanted to remain in touch because they enjoyed the quality positive conversations and companionship. This insight led to further enquiry into the need for such a service beyond the pandemic. During the same period the Behavioural Activation in Social Isolation trial (BASIL+ trial)* started within months of the 2020 pandemic and was the largest trial ever undertaken to target and measure loneliness in this way. Participants in the study reported their levels of emotional loneliness fell by 21% over a three-month period and the benefits remained after the phone calls had ceased, suggesting an enduring impact. Research continues to show that the frequency and quality of conversations can increase happiness levels and lower stress. Studies suggest that anyone who makes time for high quality conversation can improve their wellbeing through daily or regular communication**.
